A verruca is caused by a virus and is closely related to, and often resembles a wart. They can present as a single verruca, multiple verruca or mosaic verruca and they are usually contagious. They are more prevalent in children but are often found in adults.
• Acid ointment – painless – suitable for children – must be kept dry between treatments
• Silver nitrate – used if foot cannot be kept dry or acid ointment method is contra-indicated
• Cryotherapy – can be painful-not always suitable for children
